Archives For Hot Cars

Maserati_QuattroporteThis should give every wealthy (and ignorant) car enthusiast pause.

Those expensive cars they’re buying depreciate faster than their stock portfolios during a crash.

On the other hand, it’s nice of them to pay manufacturers full price, hardly use the vehicles for a year or so and then sell to less monied rich people looking for a bargain. Although do you want the beautiful yet flawed Maserati Quattroporte at any price?

What about the Phaeton, Audi A8 or the mighty Maybach now being sold at the ridiculous discount price of $100,000???

These are perhaps mistakes no one should repeat.

Still, it would be cool to pull into the driveway of your $180,000 townhouse in a ride that had an original higher list price.

Oh, well thank goodness for those little things.

We’re sure a lot of guys will be relieved to hear that model Jess Barton has recovered the parts to her prized 1000+ horsepower Supra.

Police found a house that apparently was a huge chop shop where most of her disassembled car was identified in different rooms.

We’re happy for her, and for this opportunity to share this pic of the still-intact vehicle.

It’s unfortunate that she and her bikini-clad friend had to block the shot.

Make sure to check it out!

(Also, don’t forget, if you got a crazy, souped-up car, get a Viper system on there stat ….)

darthvaderThe Super Bowl is set.

The question will once again be debated: What’s more interesting, the football game or the TV commercials?

Edmunds has put together a list of the top ten ads of all time.

Their pick for number 1 is close to being the correct choice.

Certainly little Darth Vader has formidable dark powers, but the force is quite strong in the equally diminutive Yoda who wields his smartphone like a light saber to put a charge in his Camaro.

See the whole Yoda Strikes Back video here and check out the original The Force: Volkswagen Commercial here.

CES is over but now we have the Detroit Auto Show!

Probably the best source for all the goings-on in the Motor City if you can’t be there is found on Autoblog’s dedicated section for the NAIAS.

Everyone’s been hyping the new Corvette, but we’ve already discussed that.

Our focus has been on the concept cars, like Toyota’s Furia, the Honda Urban and Lincoln’s MKC, among others.

Check back at the Viper blog and also make sure to follow all the action here.

2012-07-24 16.00.50Everyone is talking about CES, with the massive show taking place in Las Vegas starting Jan. 8. (Come see us in our booth, by the way, at 1514 North Hall.)

However, the Auto Alliance showed off some very cool connected car technologies at last month’s L.A. Auto Show.

The problem they’re trying to solve is providing drivers with a safe way for them to manage new features that mobile phones bring into the car.

Livio’s Livio Connect helps you access and control smartphone-style apps through the radio in the dash. Livio can mirror your apps and gives you a better way to use them.

Qualcomm and Intel are also working on solutions for car connectivity. Aaaaaaaaand of course you already know about developments like the driverless car that’s in the works from Google.

Of course, when it comes to the latest, most innovative connected car technology on the market right now, it begins and ends with the Viper SmartStart app.
