Archives For remote start

2012-07-24 16.00.56Viper SmartStart to the rescue!

We swear we had no part in influencing the instituting of this ordinance.

The police in Madison say it’s a violation to leave unattended cars running — and the purpose of the ordinance is to prevent car thefts!

Maybe not all the folks there know about remote start systems, but clearly they should go to the appropriate store and get one for their vehicles, given that the cold weather will likely persist for at least another month.

That way you can warm your car, the cabin and avoid the hefty fine if you start your ride with the key in the ignition while you wait indoors.

Viper SmartStart can now make your life even easier — you can launch the Viper SmartStart app by saying “SmartStart.”

You can define a specific command that’s executed when it launches.

With a single word you can start, lock or unlock your car. And you now have in-app controls over SMS and email notifications.

Note: you must have a iPhone 4S or iPhone 5  with the iOS6.

Come check it out at our booth at CES: 1514 North Hall!

According to research firm Gartner, 35 percent of the 1.9 billion phones sold this year will be smartphones.

About half of the consumers in the U.S. have one already. (You can read that report from Reuters here: http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/07/29/us-smartphones-outlook-idUSBRE86S09B20120729.)

So it’s no wonder that the 12-volt industry is optimistic about the growth for the remote start via smartphone market. Our own VP of Product Planning James Turner joined other executives in the consensus view.

Discussing the growth of Viper SmartStart, Turner said: “We do believe it’s going to be the fastest-growing category we have.”

About 350,000 remote start kits are sold in the aftermarket each year and experts agree that smartphone remote start systems will reach a high of 10 percent of that market this year — at least! And given the rising sales of smartphones in general, that number should continue to climb in the near future.

So, get out of the way, skeptics!!!! And get on board with the cloud-connected car!

(And psssssssssst, by the way, why not get on board with Viper, who innovated and brought you the first-ever smartphone app that could start your car — and has delivered the most new features for customers ever since? Sounds pretty good to us!)

Any new Viper SmartStart features that you’d like to see, let us know in comments!

Hey SmartStart fans, did you get the chance to play this cool new feature that rolled out with the Viper SmartStart 3.0 upgrade?

It’s called SmartSchedule, and the way we’re tagging it is that it’s “part weatherman, part mind reader.”

Whether it’s freezing cold or burning up outside, you’ve gotta love the convenience of having your car comfortable and ready for you — before the second that you leave for work.

That’s right, the SmartSchedule feature could be the difference between continually having your car start every morning while you are still enjoying your first cup of coffee, and making a trip outside in your slippers to get your vehicle running.

Like a personal assistant, SmartSchedule will alert you when it is a certain temperature outside and it’s nearing your time to hit the road — giving you the option to start your vehicle via your smartphone.

Users can just import all of their personal scheduling information and data into the app — and your car will now sense when the temperature hits the level at which you know you want to remote start your car.

In the app, users can find the SmartSchedule feature under “More” on the menu tab at the bottom of the main screen.

Click on “SmartSchedule” and users will be prompted to enter a time that they normally leave for work and on what days — along with a set temperature that marks the level where the user would want to remote start their vehicle.

Curious to see how SmartSchedule works?! Check out this video below that we shot for CES last year:

Hey Viper fans, check out these new hot photos we snapped recently in the Snake Pit here at Viper headquarters in Vista, Calif.

These hot shots in the gallery below are of a remote start and security install on a Nissan Titan.

A few weeks ago, we showed all of you an Instagram photo of this same install on the Titan, check it out here.

(Btw, it’s not the silver Titan we showed you last week).
