Archives For smartphone

The car is the biggest gadget we own. And if it does truly turn into the former, then we may be buying new ones as often as we do computers!

Major chip manufacturers are boosting the brains in cars, making them think faster than they can move. Soon there will be very little your car can’t do that your favorite handheld does.

Is it possible for people to be as crazy about their cars as they are about their phones? Today, people have an intimate attachment to their phones that is hard to shake. It doesn’t even seem possible to sit down at dinner, or even sit down in a class, without texting, Instagramming, tweeting, etc.

Let’s face it, that glow on our faces as we stare down at our smartphones is all too familiar. Most people can’t even SLEEP without their phone right by their sides.

However, we’re also safe to dream about the bright future of the digital, cloud-connected car. Picture it: Keep all your passengers or kids safe and quiet in the back while they kick back and watch the latest movies on Netflix. Just think, they can enjoy themselves singing along to Veggietales as you discover the newest DIY project on Pinterest. It could be a road-trippers dream!

When you think about it, it does indeed start to sound as though the car can become the future of all mobile technology. Especially with companies such as Texas Instruments and Nvidia collaborating to make this revolutionary change.

Google is even working on the project to bring about the robotic, driverless car. It seems like there is more exciting news in store for the automotive industry than at any time in its history — the only real question is which way does this digital monster go from here?

Mobile Tech’s Future Isn’t in the Phone, It’s in the Car

Hey SmartStart fans, did you get the chance to play this cool new feature that rolled out with the Viper SmartStart 3.0 upgrade?

It’s called SmartSchedule, and the way we’re tagging it is that it’s “part weatherman, part mind reader.”

Whether it’s freezing cold or burning up outside, you’ve gotta love the convenience of having your car comfortable and ready for you — before the second that you leave for work.

That’s right, the SmartSchedule feature could be the difference between continually having your car start every morning while you are still enjoying your first cup of coffee, and making a trip outside in your slippers to get your vehicle running.

Like a personal assistant, SmartSchedule will alert you when it is a certain temperature outside and it’s nearing your time to hit the road — giving you the option to start your vehicle via your smartphone.

Users can just import all of their personal scheduling information and data into the app — and your car will now sense when the temperature hits the level at which you know you want to remote start your car.

In the app, users can find the SmartSchedule feature under “More” on the menu tab at the bottom of the main screen.

Click on “SmartSchedule” and users will be prompted to enter a time that they normally leave for work and on what days — along with a set temperature that marks the level where the user would want to remote start their vehicle.

Curious to see how SmartSchedule works?! Check out this video below that we shot for CES last year:

As the iPhone 4 approaches its first birthday, Apple fans around the world are biting their nails awaiting the release of the iPhone 5.

With much speculation surrounding the release date of the newest phone, most reports project that it will be Sept. 12 of this year, right in line with several other Apple product releases.

Of course, actual confirmation of the September deadline by Apple is still pending.

Until that date, all of you Apple lovers can dream of all the new features the iPhone 5 will offer — possibly an improved Siri who just may be willing to tell you a bedtime story, or have the wry wit to play along with your jokes.

Web pics of a finished iPhone 5 were leaked, which were reportedly smuggled out of a Foxconn factory.

Apple’s third quarter numbers have taken off, a sign that the release is indeed imminent, and Bloomberg has reported that the company placed a mega-order for some $1.15 billion in parts.
